The Neighborhood is renewed for season 3 in 2020-2021
CBS has announced the renewal of its third highest-rated sitcom ‘The Neighborhood’ for a third season. The creator Jim Reynolds weaves his own real-life experience after his move into a witty storyline and so the hilarious family comedy comes alive. Monday’s Popular CBS Comedies will include The Neighborhood season 3, at 8:00 PM, Bob Hearts Abishola season 2 at 8:30PM, followed by the Hit Drama All Rise season 2 at 9:00 PM, on Nov. 16th, 2020. With a cool flip of social reality, the show revolves around a super-friendly white guy who moves into a predominantly black neighborhood. His skeptical, grumpy next-door-neighbor is afraid he might ruin the essence of their closely knitted community that everyone has grown to love. When the two opposites collide, comedic conflicts and hilarious situations arise that are at the heart of this remarkable show.
The Neighborhood Season 3 will start on November 16h, 2020, at 8:00PM
The premiere was initially planned for Monday Sept 21st 2020 at 8:00pm EST, but was eventually delayed to November 2020 due to COVID, with a date yet to be announced. CBS has however confirmed its fall schedule, placing Neighborhood on Monday at 8:00pm EST, just before Bob Hearts Abishola (8:30pm EST).
First episode of the season will discuss Social Justice & the Black Lives Matters movement
TVline reported that season 3 will premiere with an episode focused on social matters and Black Lives Matter: one of the main characters experience police brutality. This sparks a discussion about the new social movements in the family. The producer told TVLine “Like most Black families, when it’s close enough to home, it’s enough to get you nervous”. Showrunner Jimmy Reynols added “We felt that our show is… uniquely positioned to address the Black Lives Matter movement and the call for social justice”.
With over 6 million viewers, the show conveys the message of accepting differences
The renewal announcement came after the second season successfully garnered 6.25 million viewers. While some may criticize TV show for its almost-racist jokes, the truth is that it intelligently navigates the topic of racial diversity that still prevails. But there’s a healthy twist to it making the show funny, sentimental and endearing. Under all the hilarity, the message is loud and clear: learn to accept the differences with an open mind and a tender heart.

About this show:
The Neighborhood stars Cedric the Entertainer in a comedy about what happens when the friendliest guy in the Midwest moves his family to a neighborhood in Los Angeles where not everyone looks like him or appreciates his extreme neighborliness. Dave Johnson is a good-natured, professional conflict negotiator. When his wife, Gemma, gets a job as a school principal in L.A., they move from Michigan with their young son, Grover, unfazed that their new dream home is located in a community quite different from their small town. Their opinionated next-door neighbor, Calvin Butler, is wary of the newcomers, certain that the Johnsons will disrupt the culture on the block. However, Calvin’s gracious wife, Tina, rolls out the welcome wagon; their chipper younger son, Marty, thinks the Johnsons could be good for the community; and their unemployed older son, Malcolm, finds Dave may finally be someone who understands him. Dave realizes that fitting into their new community is more complex than he expected, but if he can find a way to connect with Calvin, they have an excellent chance of making their new neighborhood their home.
