Status for season 2
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 2
Series Information:
Reckoning Season 2 is likely canceled since the story wrapped up and gave the audience a satisfactory conclusion. Reckoning was first released in New Zealand in 2019. After doing reasonably well there, it was made available on Netflix to the US audience in May 2020.
It’s important to note that the show was dubbed as miniseries or limited series. This means that it is designed to be 1 season only. It is not uncommon for limited series to go beyond season 1, but it means that a limited series has smaller chances of getting renewed. The entire story was nicely summed up in 10 episodes. As a result, there seems no plans for a Reckoning Season 2.
Since the show has now been released over 1.5 years ago, and we still have not received any official renewal information from Netflix, it is safe to say that the series has ended / is canceled, with no season 2.
In the starting episodes, Reckoning stirred intrigue but with time, it ran out of originality. It did turn out to be a pretty good watch with bursts of suspense but the characters are too familiar to render another story and another season. Season 1 ended with our cop finally managing to trace his prey after missing many past coincidences. All the dots were connected and all the mysteries solved. With nothing much left to explore, it’s highly unlikely that Reckoning Season 2 will be announced.
It scored a 6.6 rating on IMDB and only a 59% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Those are good ratings but might not have been enough to pick Netflix's interests to request a season 2.
The series explores the darkest corners of the male psyche through the eyes of two fathers, one of whom is a serial killer and the other a cop. Like most men, Leo and Mike try to do what’s best for the people they love, the families they protect. But as both struggle to suppress their inner demons, the murder of a local teenager sets them on a course of mutual destruction that will emanate through every facet of their quiet, suburban community.
I don’t agree that it’s been wrapped up. It left us with so many unanswered questions. Good miniseries, but not any closure to many things that took place.
I’m satisfied with the shows final episode as the wrap up. Leaving it to the imagination is better than whatever they could clumsily come up with.
I do not agree that it has been wrapped up either i would like to see what happens with the information given at the end he knows who the killer is now what is he going to do about it with a fake confession from a dead man standing in the way
I agree with you. This is not done. Too many of these shows want us to use our imagination as to what happens. I am tired of that.
Maybe it is best to watch the final episode to see if yhe show is worth watching. Sad.
This is anything but wrapped up!!! This just left us wanting for more!!! We do not even get to see Leo’s true reaction to what Mike Serrato just bombed him with at the end. And Mike knowing it and proving it are two way different things. As even Mike said throughout there are sometimes mistakes at the first but then they get in their stride. There is no actual evidence against Leo , part of that being his wife Candice who burned that shed and all its contents to the ground. Candice has now also become and aider and abetting Leo in his crimes and she would be up on charges now too wouldnt she? Is Leo going to be a good boy again………..for awhile or will this really tip him over the edge. As Mike stated before also its in their DNA they will do it again and yrs later even again! So this is anything but over………there are so many twists and turns this could take with Leo even going after Mike himself since he is the only one other than Candice who apparently knows its him. Also will Mike and Paige be able to stick it out or will this ongoing drive of Mikes kill what lil is left of their marriage. Now Amanda Mikes oldest daughter has a tattoo and is now 18 will she become a potential victim of Leos or will he just kidnap her to keep Mike shut up! God there are so many ways to get another season or 2 out of this one it is unbelievable. God I will write it myself lmao if Netflix will continue it hahah!!!!
I don’t think it wrapped up nicely at all. So now Mike knows who the RRK is, but how convenient that the evidence was destroyed, how can he prove it? Both Leo and Mike’s sons have serial killer markings, especially Leo’s..that’s a whole other storyline right there, especially since he’s with Mike’s daughter. Mike’s eldest daughter is a train wreck waiting to happen. And now that Mike knows…so what? He’s just going to let Leo go back to work at a high school even though he has no evidence? That can’t happen ever. It was a sloppy ending if it was meant to be just one season! I think the ending was in hopes for a second season.
Excellent series. I have to say that my 60+ years of absorbing film and television has given me a pretty good incite as to what constitutes “good” entertainment and this series was very good. I feel that they are really missing an opportunity to achieve decent ratings and properly wrap up an unfinished story. C’mon even Stephen King was enjoying it!
