Status for season 2
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 2
Series Information:
The Mist Season 2 is officially cancelled by its original network Spike.
We’re no strangers to Stephen King’s terrifyingly eerie horror tales, especially The Mist which was first published back in 1980. While the novel was a gripping story of terror, suspense, and a paranoia-inducing plot, the TV show failed to make its mark. Unfortunately, The Mist Season 2 was cancelled the same year the first season came out.
The Mist novel was also adapted into a film in 2007. Despite its humble budget, the movie did great justice to the novel. It was intense, chilling, and absolutely shocking. When The Mist TV show was announced, the fans were excited. After all the film had been a success and inspired video games like Half-Life and the Silent Hill franchise. But the show failed to capture the attention and The Mist Season 2 was inevitability cancelled.
Spike officially cancelled the show on September 27, 2017, the same year the first season premiered. The decision came after mixed reviews with most of them indicating that the show simply did not elicit excitement. The characters were not likable and the material was not used smartly. While there might be another adaption in the future, The Mist Season 2 won’t be happening.
About the show:
An unexplained mist slowly envelops the town of Bridgeville, Maine, creating an almost impenetrable barrier to visibility. The residents of the town soon learn the situation is even more precarious as unexplained anomalies and phenomena in the mist attack and kill most who enter it, trapping several groups of people in a shopping mall, a church, and a hospital. Eventually, people begin to see apparitions in the mist from their past, fears, or guilt that help or kill them depending on how they react.
