Status for season 2
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 2
The Final Table Season 2 is cancelled. The cooking competition and reality TV series started out great when it was first released on Netflix in August 2018. Top chefs dived into the contest whipping up sensational dishes from nine nations. Each episode was focused on one particular country and the teams had to create foods based on that country. The interesting part was that each episode also had a new panel of judges representing the chosen country.
Despite having a unique twist, exaggerated drama, and a large number of featured chefs, The Final Table couldn’t do great in the end. While a lot of people did enjoy it, thousands of others believed it didn’t live up to its potential. Some were not amused with the host Andrew Knowlton’s commentary while others accused it of racism. It earned only a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes with the audience calling it a pro-white cooking show since all the people of color were eliminated quite early.
In early 2019, the show’s top contestant Hollingsworth sat down for an interview with Eater Los Angeles and talked about what he'd like to see happen in season 2. "I think I would make it more challenging to pick a wider mix of countries," he said. He also believed the creativity side of things could be amplified, adding, "I think it would be good to let chefs get creative with dishes instead of having them recreate something specific."
However, Netflix never made an announcement for The Final Table Season 2. It has been almost 3 years and the platform released no news. Netflix usually takes about 6 months to renew a show and never discards a popular show. Now that more than 24 months have gone by, it’s certain that The Final Table Season 2 is cancelled.
