Status for season 12
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 12
Shameless Season 12 is cancelled but the network has an exciting surprise in store for the audience. While Showtime had already announced its plans of cancellation, it also revealed that an extension series “Hall of Shame” will be coming on December 27, 2020.
Shameless first aired on January 9, 2011 and had 11 successful seasons. The network decided and the showrunner John Wells agreed that it was time to wrap up the journey of the Gallagher family. The final season left the fans heartbroken but the prospect of the new six-episode extension series also has them psyched.
Before you get your hopes up, Shameless Hall of Shame is not a new season. It will, instead, feature original Shameless scenes with a retrospective look at each character. So it’s like a hybrid of recap+original scenes. After you’ve bid farewell to your favorite characters, it is nostalgic to look at their journey from a new perspective and that’s exactly what this extension series is about.
Shameless Hall of Shame premieres on December 27, 2020 with six episodes. Each episode is about 47-52 minutes long and focused on each character.
About the show: Frank Gallagher is the head of a working-class family in Chicago. His six children suffer because he is a heavy drinker and Fiona, the eldest daughter, has to look after everyone in the house. The final season will see the South Side's favorite clan go out with the biggest bang ever. It's going to be a wild last ride, but changes are coming that will force each of them to either step up or hit the road. And while devolving may come more naturally than evolving in a family where excess never gets old, they know one thing for certain – Gallagher's may grow up, but they'll never grow apart.
