The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 7
Series Information:
Netflix has confirmed that there will not be a Longmire season 7. The show is officially cancelled after the first six seasons. Netflix has not officially disclosed the reason behind the cancellation. Some fans have been disappointed by the season finale. Malachi finally dies, but the season fell a bit short of expectations. Other fans were a bit disappointed to see Cady Longmire replacing her dad as sheriff even while she's having sex with one of her deputies.
Longmire ends as one of the top-rated TV shows with a TVscorecards score of 91% and one of the most popular TV series with over 10 million viewers (estimated). The cancellation news come as very sad news to faithful fans looking forward to more seasons. Please post a reply/comment on this page to let us know what you think.
Overall, it is likely that Longmire ended without a new season because the show was finally coming to an end with little potential for a new exciting plot that could have fueled season 7. The series covered most of the books that it was based on. It is likely that Netflix thought a new season could have been short of ideas and fall short of fans' expectations.
Longmire ends with a new sheriff taking over from Walt (Cady Longmire). The last season ended up on a high note, but left enough open questions in case the production company was able to produce a new season.
