Status for season 3
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 3
Series Information:
We hate to be the bearer of bad news but Kakegurui Season 3 is cancelled.
The psychological thriller Japanese anime series is adapted from the manga of the same name.
The anime follows a young girl, Yumeko Jabami who hides her psychotic obsession with gambling under her innocent facade. Hyakkaou Private Academy is nothing less than a heaven for her since instead of academic performance, this place ranks students on their gambling skills. Talk about watching your dreams come true.
The first season of the anime premiered on July 1, 2017, on Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, and RKB. While it was already getting the attention of anime fans, it started enjoying even more limelight after getting a streaming license from Netflix.
The second season came out on January 8, 2019, but now the anime's popularity had begun to decline. The renewal of an anime depends on its popularity and the remaining source material.
Kakegurui still has a lot of source material left for it to be animated but on the popularity front, the show took a hit in its second season and the fate of Kakegurui Season 3 went dark. Fans complained that despite the madness, mystery, chaos, and thrill, the anime lacked substance. The suspenseful situations were anti-climatic. The story was too simple and the villains were one-dimensional. But perhaps that's exactly how Kakegurui is supposed to be. Not to be taken too seriously and just offering a wild ride of weirdness.
Netflix usually renews its shows within 12 months. As much as we had hoped for a renewal, too much time has gone by in silence. We can only assume that Kukegurui Season 3 is cancelled.
About the show:
Yumeko Jabami enrolls at Hyakkaou Private Academy, where students are ranked by their gambling winnings and fame and fortune awaits those on top.
