Are You The One? Has Been cancelled With No Season 9

Are You the One? Season 9 is cancelled on account of some controversies that hit the show.

According to Deadline, all work on Are You the One? Season 9 has been halted after a former contestant Gianna Hammer pointed fingers at the producers and claimed that she was drugged and sexually assaulted during a cast party of Season 5 back in 2017. This scandal and the following backlash put everything on a standstill and Are You the One Season 9 ended up getting cancelled.

Although the production company Lighthearted Entertainment denied these claims, MTV launched investigations and conducted two internal reviews of the incident. An independent probe was also initiated but we never heard of any further news. Matters like this are taken very seriously by networks and usually result in the future of the shows going dark.

Additionally, the show has been in limbo now for over 2 years without any official renewal/cancellation announcement from MTV. Chances are that MTV wanted to keep a low-profile and quietly put the show to rest for good.

Are You the One? is a reality television series on MTV. A group of men and women are secretly paired into couples by producers, via a matchmaking algorithm. Then, while living together, the contestants try to identify all of these "perfect matches." If they succeed, the entire group shares a prize of up to $1 million.
