Status for season 2
The series is NOT renewed for a new season. It has been cancelled and there will not be a season 2
Series Information:
A Sister is All You Need is originally a Yomi Hirasaka novel published by the Shogakukan publishing group. 14 novels have been published since the first release in March 2015. The anime adaptation aired from October 8 to December 24, 2017, with 12 episodes.
The anime was very well received with over 123K ratings on MyAnimeList with an average rating of 7.3. However, the final episode of this first season was a disappointment for a lot of fans. This possibly factored in the cancellation of the anime with no season 2 currently planned. Is there a chance for a season 2?
It is possible that a new season will be ordered at some point: after all, 6 new novels were released in print after the first season of the anime was released. However, it is important to note that the latest novels were not hot sellers. This could have factored in the decision to cancel the show after the first season. There are a few unanswered questions at the end of the anime, for example, will Chihiro tell Itsuki that she is a girl? how will Itsuki's love for Nayuta turn out? The novel's plot have enough development for all characters to call for a new season, if need be.
The anime features Itsuki Hashima, a novelist obsessed with little sisters. Itsuki is working with an attractive genius writer who is in love with him (and a slight pervert), a classmate, a fellow male writer who experienced tremendous success, a sadistic tax accountant, and his editor. Chihiro, his young step-brother, takes care of housework. Soon, however, conflicts start appearing in the team, as each person has its own dreams and ambitions. Their stories are full of romantic and erotic components, but differ in their styles and goals.
The 14th novel was released on February 18, 2020. Since its original release in 2015, Hirasaka has released about 2-3 novels every year. However, only 1 novel was released in 2020 and none in 2021.
The manga adaption was released in May 19th, 2016 with 9 volumes. A spin-off manga was also released in 2016.
