Mixed-ish has taken a step towards Season 2 renewal with a full-season pick-up, while Stumptown remains in limbo despite also receiving more episodes.
ABC has ordered back orders for the two freshman dramas along with The Rookie, TV Scorecards has learned.
Mixed-ish has been picked up for nine additional episodes for a full-season 22-episode run, boding well for Season 2 renewal.
Stumptown, has received just five additional episodes (marking 18 in total) – hardly a sign of confidence for a freshman drama – putting it in limbo despite an extended first-season run.
The Rookie has received seven extra episodes, though it will be touch and go for Season 3, per insiders.
Meanwhile, ABC has cancelled Emergence after one season.

About this show:
Rainbow Johnson recounts her experience growing up in a mixed-race family in the '80s and the constant dilemmas she and the family members had to face over whether to assimilate or stay true to themselves. Bow's parents, Paul and Alicia, decide to move from a hippie commune to the suburbs to better provide for their family. As her parents struggle with the challenges of their new life, Bow and her siblings navigate a mainstream school in which they're perceived as neither black nor white. The family's experiences illuminate the challenges of finding one's own identity when the rest of the world can't decide where you belong.
