The Tables are Turning on Final Table, Now Cancelled
In 2019, the show’s top contestant Hollingsworth sat down for an interview with Eater Los Angeles and talked about what he’d like to see happen in season 2. “I think I would make it more challenging to pick a wider mix of countries,” he said. He also believed the creativity side of things could be amplified, adding, “I think it would be good to let chefs get creative with dishes instead of having them recreate something specific.”
However, season 2 did not happen. On the other hand, Netflix also never shared a cancellation announcement for the show. Is there a chance that the popular cooking show comes back on Netflix one day?
We think the chances for a season 3 are extremely slim: it has now been almost 3 years now that The Final Table has released on Netflix. Netflix usually takes about 2-6 months to renew a popular show for a new season. We have seen a few exceptions during the pandemic, which caused many delays in show renewals. However, since 3 years have gone by, all signs point to a cancellation of The Final Table Season 2.

About this show:
The Final Table Season 2 is cancelled. The cooking competition and reality TV series started out great when it was first released on Netflix in August 2018. Top chefs dived into the contest whipping up sensational dishes from nine nations. Each episode was focused on one particular country and the teams had to create foods based on that country. The interesting part was that each episode also had a new panel of judges representing the chosen country.
Despite having a unique twist, exaggerated drama, and a large number of featured chefs, The Final Table couldn’t do great in the end. While a lot of people did enjoy it, thousands of others believed it didn’t live up to its potential. Some were not amused with the host Andrew Knowlton’s commentary while others accused it of racism. It earned only a 38% score on Rotten Tomatoes with the audience calling it a pro-white cooking show since all the people of color were eliminated quite early.
The Final Table is a global culinary competition show featuring the world's most talented chefs fighting for a spot at the elite, Final Table made up of the greatest chefs from around the globe. The series features 12 teams of two chefs from around the world cooking the national dishes of Mexico, Spain, England, Brazil, France, Japan, the U.S., India and Italy. Each episode focuses on a different country and its cuisine, with celebrity ambassadors, food critics and the country's greatest chef eliminating teams until the finale.

China was excluded, and so were Thailand and Indonesia. It was pretty disappointing to see how one-sided or prejudice this cooking competition was all about. It was not surprising that it was cancelled.
Such a good show. Can’t believe anyone would think its pro-white. Crazy this world we live in.
Seriously? Mexico, Spain, England, Brazil, France, Japan, the U.S., India and Italy… yes so white. Perhaps China, Thailand and/or Indonesia would be represented in season 2 or 3…. You are the reason we can’t have good things🙄
They had two Asian countries with India and Japan, and you still wanted China, Taiwan and Indonesia? This isn’t; LET’S GET COOKING IN ASIA. Asian countries were well represented and they would have likely had new ones in season two. Great representation of global foods for a first season.
4 of the 9 countries are non white majority countries. Thats literally almost half. Are you brown? I am, and I’m annoyed and offended at you calling that group of countries “pro white”. Don’t blame the TV show if we want more renowned chefs of color in the US. We need to start encouraging kids of color to get into cooking and give them opportunities to immerse themselves in the kitchen instead of complaining chef shows are “pro white”. That’s not true and now we all lose a season 2 of a great show.
People have to find racism in anything and it is terrible. I hate this world we live in more and more. Any time a white wins something or there is a disagreement it’s always abused with this word. Stop it people. Racism is real. So only use it when it applies and not as a tool for your disappointment or foot stamping.
I am so annoyed with comments like that. This is a culinary adventure that requires intense skill and accolades. This isn’t about race or having different demographics. This is about food and how it can become art through culture and seeing other cultural interpretations of a staple food. This was one of the best shows with the top culinary people I want to see! Not home cooks- actual pinnacles in the culinary world. It’s inspirational. A mistake to not do other seasons just because a couple people are offended about something that has no regard to the competition. ITS ABOUT THE ART.
This is always, you fall in love with a great TV show and suddenly is cancelled, what a Bomb. Very disappointed.
How was USA featured as a country to cook without having a real national dish? They did not even feature a lot of other populr countries like China, Corea, Thailand, Germany… also provided more protagonism to the american/white contestants. It was dissapointing how Tim won over Mark Best.
All these people crying about how it’s pro-white show are just in their woke bubble without any knowledge in the culinary world. I’m surprised more of you trashes aren’t crying about how there weren’t enough female cooks either. The culinary world is expanding fast but a lot of the countries are still behind, to be claimed the “best”. This show is solely about the TOP CHEFS competing each other. You should try to learn a thing or two from the show (culinary skill/techniques/knowledge/wisdom wise) instead of bitching of something totally irrelevant to the show.
