Netflix confirmed that there will be a season 2 of this intense disaster thriller. Writer Jason George stated “We’ve been thrilled by the global response, and I’m excited to share that we’ll be doing a second season. It’s been amazing to see how fans across the world have connected with the passengers and crew of BE Airways Flight 21”.
The story was an instant hit with over 5 million viewers (estimated)
Netflix does not disclose viewership data for its shows, but we estimate based on various popularity indicators that approximately 6-7 million viewers watched the first season with our best estimate* at 6.9 million. In the first season, a NATO solder hijacks a plan taking off from Brussels to Moscow. The soldier demands that the flight takes off early. In the process he saves their lives as humanity has fallen victim to a new catastrophe that sees living organisms dying when coming in contact with sunlight. The disaster came up with no warning. The sun is killing everything in its path. The crew and passengers now embark on a mission to escape daylight by continuing to fly away from direct sunlight.
Inspired by a Polish Science Fiction book “The old Axolotl” by Dukaj
In the book, the writer tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world in which a cosmic catastrophe has sterilized the Earth of all living things. Only a small number of humans have managed to copy digitalized versions of their minds onto hardware. Deprived of physical bodies, they continue to exist by uploading themselves onto gigantic robots and machines

About this show:
Into the Night tells the story about retaining humanity in the face of a cosmic disaster, as a flight departs from Brussels in the early hours. It is inspired by the science fiction book "The Old Axolotl" by Jacek Dukaj. Into the night is the story of a group of people onboarding a plane from Belgium. Televisions inside the airport begin to show people collapsing right in the middle of their broadcasts. The plane is hijacked by a frantic Italian NATO Soldier called Terenzio. Terenzio gets onboard and forces the flight for an early take-off. The few people that are still on the aircraft become survivors to the deadliest global catastrophe that results in people dying due to exposure to sunlight. In an attempt to escape the catastrophe, the plane continues to head west to avoid the sunlight. The passengers left in the plane must work together to continue to avoid direct rays of the sunshine, and manage challenges such as fuel shortage, irradiated food and other problems, in a quest to reach an underground military bunker to save their lives.
